Getting into egocentric data collection. Need suggestions.(reddit.com)
Background: I confounded a startup last year on Execution as a Service model. We're two confounders, and a core team of 5 guys. 4 of us used to be at xAI human data. And collectively we've worked for most of the leading genAI companies in the human data space. We started off as a managed outsourcing platform where we assign a frac COO to handle your entire outsourcing ops across functionalities which also included AI annotation and labelling. The problem: We were trying to secure contracts all over the place. Though we had 150+ registered fulfilment partners, and we secured some sizable contracts, I was genuinely confused about the growth and the direction of the company, specially with the kind of developments happening in the ops domain. I just brokered a deal valued at over 100k just for sharing internal ops data for AI training. We can't predict exactly how would the space look like. The present: The outsourcing business isn't fully justified to the kind of profiles the core team has. We were being reduced a software and marketing firm. We figured out that we need to stay relevant in the data industry. With the logistical edge that I have, and the trial run I did, I am very confident about working on physical data. We collected over 10 hours sample dataset spanning across household, industrial, construction, and electrical egocentric data. The question: Before we jump into physical data, I am genuinely looking for researchers' perspectives on ego-exocentric vs synthetic data. I understand that the upfront cost is high for synthetic, but long term cost is significantly cheaper, but how does the difference play out in the actual training workplace. Made a community robotics "tech tree" to answer "how do I actually get started?" (open source, WIP)(reddit.com)
If you've tried to get into robotics, you've probably hit one of these walls: How do I get started? How do I get from blinking an LED to an autonomous robot? I come from a software (or mechanical, or data) background, what am I missing? I couldn't find a single good answer to these, so I started building one: an open source "tech tree" for robotics. It's a visual skill map. You start at the root and unlock the rest as you go (electronics, mechanics, programming, data science, AI), with hands-on builds as the milestones: blink an LED, a sensor project, a robot arm, a robot dog, and up into more serious AI. The main idea: it's not new content. There is already a ton of great tutorials, courses, and docs out there. The tech tree is just the map that sits on top of it and points you to the right resource for each skill, in an order that makes sense. It's early and nowhere near complete, which is kind of the point. It's fully open on GitHub, so if you have a favorite tutorial, a course that made something finally click, or a resource you wish you'd found sooner, you can add it. PRs and issues welcome, and "you forgot X" comments even more so. wallet confirmations still hide the part users actually need(reddit.com)
most wallet confirmation screens are good at showing gas and terrible at showing blast radius. a user sees the token, the contract, and a button that says approve. what they often do not see in plain language is how much the contract can move whether the permission expires whether the contract can be upgraded later which assets are exposed if the signature is malicious how to revoke it before anything happens that is a strange design choice. the most dangerous moment in self custody is often treated like a legal disclaimer instead of a risk decision. transaction simulation helps, but even a simulation can miss what a future approval allows. i think wallets should show a simple worst case preview before signing. something like "this contract can move all of your USDT until you revoke access" is much more useful than a wall of hex and gas estimates. would that meaningfully reduce losses, or would most users still click through until wallets add hard limits by default? submitted by /u/CODE_HEIST [link] [Kommentare]
A few tips from the (startup) trenches for managing stress(github.com)
A while back I co-founded a company that raised some money. We worked long hours, 6 days per week from a wonderful office, leaving Sundays to take care of personal things. After a few weeks, a few things became apparent: Here are a few habits that helped me keep my stress levels under control, and I hope they will help you too: Keep a notebook. In the notebook add a new entry and answer, “What happened today?” Update open tasks if needed. The day is done. Stop thinking about work. To perform at a high level tomorrow (and the day after, and the day after…), one must rest. If possible, no more screen time of any kind until the next day. Find an activity that grabs complete attention, both mentally and physically, even if it is for a small amount of time. Examples include: sports or skills based activities such as dance, yoga. There are a few similar tricks. If one doesn’t work, try the next: For me, there often were nights with no time for activity after work. Falling asleep on those nights would have been impossible without the two visualization tricks. Develop a morning routine: Make the bed, exercise, take a shower, pray, water the plants, dress for success, eat breakfast, etc. Ramp up to cruising speed: meditate for a few minutes; switch the mind back into focusing mode; look at notes from the previous day’s end. Kick a whole lot of ass, all day long!
Help collecting money from the deceased’s account(reddit.com)
In a bit of a hairy situation, my father recently passed and while collecting stuff for his estate we’ve discovered that he had assets with crypto.com. We’ve spent two months attempting to get the money out however all we have gotten is various chatbots saying they will update us on our case only to never be reached again. Does anyone know how to actually get in touch with people affiliated with the company or in general how to go about a situation like this? submitted by /u/Such_Ring9933 [link] [Kommentare]
